Director - Toronto - CanadaMichael Page Apr 2014 - Jan 2017Toronto, CanadaI ran three businesses from our Toronto office; Sales & Marketing, Technology, Banking & Financial Services. • Inherited a loss making, leaderless business. • Six months into my tenure the directive changed from headcount growth to profit growth.• 2014 was another loss making year yet despite only joining in Q2 I managed to drive growth on 2013 revenue.• In January 2015 I executed structural changes and replaced underperformers. An 82% turnover in headcount was necessary but the 2015 results were increased revenue and a $0.5m swing in profit, the businesses first profitable year.• Rationalised the sectors we service, allocating more resource to our bigger opportunities and removing the risk associated with being spread too thin.• Implemented stringent sales processes, vertical segmentation, incentive plans and drove home a strong sales culture.• During 2015 I led from the front with personal revenue of $240k across multiple sectors and achieved Presidents Club (weekend in Turks and Caicos) for being number one in North America for solution selling.• In a traditionally permanent business I grew contract margin from $50/hr to over $650/hr which is a hugely profitable, and sustainable, revenue stream.• Successfully developed and promoted four recruits from Consultant through to Manager and developed one Associate Director.• 2016 was up on both revenue and profit compared to 2015. The culture was a strong and positive one with attrition being held to 20%.• Successfully pitched for and won significant business opportunities across all sectors including Banking, Consulting, Consumer, FinTech, Start-up, Media, Business / Professional Services, Technology, Industrial.• With no Internal Recruitment presence in Canada all new recruits have had to be self-generated. -

During the 2008 crash I learned a great deal about restructuring and rebuilding and the importance of maintaining a strong vision and culture. Rebuilt from 2009 to 2014 increasing revenue by 169%. -
