I am proud to transition to the role of Senior Advisor with the Mary Tyler Vision Initiative. The past 3 years as the founding Managing Director of MTM Vision have been an exciting and fulfilling experience as we created our new organization, assembled our amazing team, and launched our scientific platforms and consortium. I will continue to be part of the MTM Vision Leadership team but will now have more time for my most important role as Grammy!After 40 years in leadership roles at the University of Michigan Medical School, I retired in 2021. Next, I became the founding Managing Director of the Mary Tyler Moore Vision Initiative, with strong collaborative ties to the UM Caswell Diabetes Institute and UM Kellogg Eye Center. Upon my retirement from U of M, I also transitioned to an Active Emeritus faculty position in the UM Dept. of Learning Health Sciences.Additional highlights of my career include (in chronological order):~Serving as the first Genetic Counselor to be employed at the University of Michigan and creating one of the initial genetic testing programs for Huntington's Disease nationally.~ Working with Dr. Francis Collins (former Director of NIH) to create and launch the NIH-funded University of Michigan Human Genome Center.~Working as the Administrative Director of the General Clinical Research Center to oversee its expansion into an outpatient facility and new location in the Cardiovascular Center.~Working as the Program Director to create the Center for the Advancement of Clinical Research (CACR) for the UM Health System.~Working as Managing Director to create and manage the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) as a university-wide institute and receiving the NIH's Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) grant.~Working with Mr. William Brehm and UMHS leadership to establish and lead The Brehm Center as its founding Director.~Working as part of the UMHS development team and completing major gift officer training.~Serving as Managing Director to launch the new MDiabetes Initiative at the University of Michigan.~Serving as a Scientific Institutional Review Board (IRB ) Member for Castle IRB, a subsidiary of Sabai Global.~Serving as the first Institute Managing Director of the new Elizabeth Weiser Caswell Diabetes Institute (CDI) at the University of Michigan, and then as the Director of Strategy and Special Projects during a phased retirement.~ Serving as the founding Managing Director of MTM Vision to create our new organization, assemble our team, and launch our scientific platforms and consortium.
