I've had a varied career, from writing data analysis programs on early desktop computers in the 1970's to providing technical support to customers of a CD-ROM publishing company in the 90's. I've been an enthusiastic user of online systems for over 20 years, and a contract post as Communications Manager at British Airways Property led to me managing several department websites on the company intranet.I joined RNIB in April 2000, creating RNIB's 'See it Right' accessible website consultancy. In 2001, we launched the 'See it Right' Accessible Website logo, which has been extremely successful in raising awareness of web accessibility and in encouraging companies in the UK to improve the accessibility of their websites.I carry out website audits and provide advice to a wide range of companies and organisations around the UK, and a few outside the UK, and I'm responsible for maintaining the technical standards of the consultancy.Since taking on this job, I've gained a lot of experience in public speaking, giving talks about web accessibility at many seminars and conferences in the UK and Europe (and one in South Korea!).Specialties: Accessible web design, web standards, mobile web, industry guidelines, technical aspects of accessible web design
