Reviews ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for outpatient medical records by using either computerized or manual systems. Supports external and internal review activities in the business department with coding and reimbursement issues. Acts as a liaison to medical staff and other department staff in the interpretation of coding conventions and guidelines following organizational coding guidelines. Maintains departmental defined quality and productivity standards. Assists manager with workflow and staffing functions. Primary Duties 1.Reviews outpatient medical records for pertinent and justifiable medical information to verify or assign classification (ICD-10, 10-CM, CPT) and reimbursement codes that adhere to coding and sequencing guidelines and conventions. 2.Reviews coding of denials screened by the Denial Management team to determine if CPT and ICD-10 codes were billed correctly based on the medical record. 3.Performs other duties as assigned
