Formally joined the Wholesale Markets team in 2021 as an Energy Analyst where I operated and maintained Genesis' central energy market forecasting tool. This tool forecasted monthly gross margin for Genesis & required updating various demand & supply input assumptions based on available market information. I supported daily portfolio optimization decisions by helping to determine the intrinsic values of each fuel source in the portfolio (water, gas & coal). This required balancing against the various portfolio constraints such as plant availability, fuel availability, market demand, & other interrelated market dynamics. Above all, my role was to provide analytical firepower, supporting various teams within Wholesale Markets. This meant working heavily with data to pull out key insights and provide key business leaders with the means to make meaningful commercial decisions.

Following my internship, I managed to secure a graduate role within the Wholesale Finance team. I provided analytical capability through monthly financial reporting, month-end BAU support, financial modelling, and ad hoc analysis. As a graduate, I was responsible for maintaining multi-billion dollar asset valuation models which could have material P&L and balance sheet impacts and often sought to aggressively automate cumbersome tasks through tool-building.

Joined as a Finance Intern after graduating from university in 2018. Spent three months assisting the Group Taxation Manager prepare tax returns for the company, working through tax implications of amalgamating subsidiaries and ensuring the appropriate tax treatment were applied to each account.
