Following on from Saba’s acquisition by Vector Capital making the company a private entity and the resulting organisational restructuring, I was promoted into my current role to expand my responsibilities for management of the EMEA region and increased focus on strategic accounts both existing clients and new business. This was in recognition of my ability to bring sales leadership and oversight to critical new business deals and upsell/cross sell within our install base where there is significant complexity or value within the opportunity. As a senior member of EMEA management reporting directly to the EMEA GM /Sales SVP my role is that of a player-coach tasked with attracting, developing and retaining talented Solutions consultants. This requires me to lead by example taking a hands-on, front line approach that sets standards for our global team not just EMEA. For the last 18 months of this role, I also had responsibility for our ANZ region in addition to my primary role within EMEA. Working with my peers in the Solutions Consulting leadership team we have developed and delivered our own in-house training program to continually improve the presentation & customer facing skills of the Solutions consulting organisation. The program focuses on presentation soft skills, how to influence people, taking ownership/control of the room during a presentation and improving the teams’ ability to deliver our key messaging in a relevant and memorable way. My role includes helping define our direction and focus in terms of what we believe can be delivered within the region given the operating parameters from HQ, meeting our customer commitments and ensuring their success, as well as meeting our quarterly business objectives. In addition, I am also an extended member of the product management organization and provide feedback & roadmap prioritization to influence product strategy in support of the EMEA business. During this time, I have also carried out a number of supporting roles for Saba as required, including Account Management while certain roles remained unfilled, and Engagement Management to ensure successful transition from sales into enablement. I also played in integral part in supporting the transformation of Saba’s business from an on-premise licenses plus customisations supplier, to a true cloud based subscription proposition. I qualified for Chairman’s club in 2010 and 2012 and have been singled out twice more for sales excellence.
