I lead a large computer science department of over 80 exceptional faculty. We support over 2000 undergraduate students, 1100 Masters students and 200 PhD students, and we have strong partnerships with virtually all other units on campus. During my time as chair, we have recruited over 40 new faculty and quadrupled the size of our Masters programs, while experiencing continued strong growth in our undergraduate and PhD programs. In the widely-followed csrankings.org, we are now ranked #32 among US-based CS departments on a 10-year basis and #30 on a 5-year basis.

As Director of the NUS-Singtel Cyber Security Research & Development Laboratory (July 2016 to July 2020),• Led a large, NRF-funded S$42.8 million corporate research laboratory in cyber security in collaboration with Singtel, with research themes in Predictive Security Analytics; Network, Data and Cloud Security; Internet-of-Things and Industrial Control Systems; and quantum-based Future-Ready Cyber Security SystemsAs Dean (July 2013 to June 2016),• Provided strategic leadership for a faculty of 100+ academic staff, 100+ research staff and 80 administrative staff• Managed an annual operating budget, ancillary funds, annual research expenditures and an endowment each in the 10s of millions of Singapore dollars, with both annual operating surpluses and ample spending on strategic initiatives for the School• Launched four successful degree programs: BS in Business Analytics, BComp in Information Security, MS in Business Analytics, MTech in IT Leadership (with NUS ISS); the last three are the first of their kind in Singapore• Significantly increased the quality of incoming students, including a rise of 10 points over two years in the “cutoff points” of undergraduate matriculates• Developed strategic partnerships with Singtel, IBM, Microsoft, SAP, Swiss Re, DBS and other companies in Singapore, as well as overseas universitiesAs Provost's Chair Professor of Computer Science,• Director of the Felicitous Computing Institute, which is producing award-winning research on next-generation ubiquitous computing, the Internet-of-Things, applied machine learning, and robustness of deep learning
