About Tilly Hoare
I am currently a software engineer at Esri, where I work on both UI and engine level code for ArcGIS Pro with the Text team.Previously I completed a PhD in the Atmospheric Chemistry Research Group at the University of Bristol, where I worked on the London Greenhouse Gas Project, which used atmospheric measurements and advanced models to independently verify greenhouse gas emissions in London.My undergraduate degree was a five year physics master's degree with an industry placement year, where I worked with the Vulcan high power laser group at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratories, and a 6 month Masters placement where I worked on plasma simulations at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE). My work at CCFE has been written up as a scientific paper and accepted for publicationWithin the University of Bath, I had been involved with academic representation within the department of Physics, liaising with student and staff to insure the student voice is listened to in a role I was voted in for both times I stood.Outside of my studies I explore my own projects, which generally use my scientific knowledge and skills in creative and artistic endeavours. I have produced YouTube videos under the channel ForwardSlashReality that have been watched nearly 500,000 times, a twitter bot @generativeArts that created and tweeted abstract art automatically and various other art pieces generated using code. I have also self published several small physics-based video games.

The aims of the project were to develop the existing physics model to include electromagnetic effects and to explore the how these changes affect simulation results. My work focused around the STORM physics module for the BOUT++ plasma simulation framework. STORM.
