As a writer and editor with more than 20 years of experience, I have a well-honed talent for making complicated or difficult subjects accessible to a popular audience of adults or children. I have developed, produced, and edited books on history, popular culture, travel, and visual and performing arts, working with most of the major trade publishers as well as with institutional and corporate clients.I currently research, write, and edit books and articles, mostly history and memoirs, for both adults and children. Some of my recent publications include The Hamilton Collection, The Lincoln Notebooks, and Citizen Woman: An Illustrated History of the Women's Movement. I am the founder and principal of Sideshow Media, a company that offers editorial consulting, nonfiction writing, ghostwriting, book producing, and substantive copywriting services. I am a past president and board member of the American Book Producers Association, and have taught classes in publishing as an adjunct faculty member at NYU. I mentor young writers through PEN America and the nonprofit Telling Room. I seek to work with nonprofits, publishers, writers, and people with interesting life stories to create books that engage, educate, and entertain. I have a strong visual sense, a killer sense of humor, and a level head when the fire alarms are going off. I am a student and interpreter of history, from the epic to the personal, with a publication history to show for it.
