Duane Jackson is from the Gitanmaax of the Gitxsan Nation. He is a certified early childhood educator completing the Early Childhood Education Program at the First Nations Training and Development Centre in Prince Rupert. He completed his Provincial Instructor Diploma through Vancouver Community College and Career Development Practice through Douglas College in 2019 and is currently enrolled in the Masters of Arts in Leadership at Royal Roads University. Duane has been working with young people as a basketball coach for the past twenty-seven years and his passion for developing well rounded individuals both on and off the court was acknowledged when he was the recipient of the 2006 Aboriginal Coach of the Year by the Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Association of B.C. Duane has worked with Success By 6 and Children First as well as partnering with various early childhood and health initiatives in the province. Duane is now focused on men’s health and is the founder of the Tauhx Gadx men’s program. The program name comes from Duane's traditional language and means "whole person. “The idea is not to look at what it means to be a “man” within today’s society but rather to get an understanding of what it means to be a “whole person”."
