I am a Building Plans Examiner certified by International Code Council with a demonstrated history of reviewing Commercial and Multi-Family projects for compliance with Building, Fire, Accessibility and Energy Conservation Codes. My background is in architecture, where I spent 26+ years working for an architectural firm in Central Illinois prior to joining the City of Champaign's Building Safety Division in early 2017. In addition to plan review, I am an administrator for the city's permitting software and am currently involved with the implementation of new hardware and software to facilitate electronic plan reviews.I was solely responsible for reviewing the 2021 I-codes, writing the local amendments to the International Building Code, the International Existing Building Code and Chapters 9-10 of the International Fire Code (including commentary for each amended section), and presenting the amendments and significant changes to the Code Review and Appeals Board. I was also instrumental in formatting and re-writing the amendments created by others to follow the standard code format for the International Residential Code, International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, Illinois Plumbing Code, and the other chapters of the International Fire Code.At the 2019 City of Champaign Employee Awards, I was given an award for personal integrity for acting in the best interests of the city, behaving in an ethical and legal manner, being open and honest, following through on commitments and being loyal to the city.At the 2023 City of Champaign Employee Awards, I was given a team award for my work (estimated at approximately 2000 hours) to write and present the amendments to the 2021 I-codes.The City of Champaign is a vibrant, thriving community with a population of approximately 90,000 full-time residents (plus more than 55,000 college students as part of a metropolitan area of more than 220,000 people) and consistently issues permits for over $200 million in privately-funded construction projects each year.
