I have enjoyed working in the space between Engineering and Manufacturing via IT. I like to use modern web technologies to remove platform and legacy hardware dependencies by creating client/server based applications for controlling manufacturing automation and CNC equipment. Node-Red, Node.js, WebSockets, MQTT, Opto22 Groov/EPIC/RIO, IIoT, etc, have made this an exciting space with lots of new and better platform independent solutions available for manufacturing environments.I also like to tinker a lot at home building things like my IoT garage door opener (using Raspberry Pi, Node-Red, Blynk, Twilio and Google Sheets / Google Apps Script), converting my 1932 Southbend desktop lathe into a precision CNC lathe (using a Masso CNC control and Teknic ClearPath SDSK motors), building a CNC Etch-a-Sketch, and retrofitting my 1973 Wheel Horse tractor with a diesel engine or just working in my machine shop (Legacy Machine Works).I also enjoy automating business processes via Node-RED, Google Apps Script or VBA.On the innovation to implementation spectrum, I would consider my strengths heavily weighted toward innovation and problem solving.
