As Head of Referees, I am responsible for all referee matters across the Domestic & Professional game in Ireland which includes:• Lead and manage the Referee Department which is made up of 13 people. • Led the design and implementation of the strategic plan for Irish Refereeing.• Collaborate with colleagues across National teams and High Performance Centre when working on various projects / duties.• Successfully manage a significant budget • Oversee roll out of all domestic education programmes.• Design, implement and manage all support structures across the department and four provinces working with provincial colleagues and volunteers.• Ensure IRFU policies are delivered and implemented in all provinces.• Represent IRFU across the professional game (URC, EPCR, Rugby Europe & World Rugby)• Liaise with Provincial and National teams on various areas of the game.

Management of Medical, Disciplinary, Anti-Doping, Match Officials, Ball Team, Volunteers, Training and Match Venues to cover 5 match days (Dublin & Belfast) with 30 games played across the competition. • Source & secure all equipment required by teams for the duration of the tournament.• Liaise with training & match venues around pitch quality & availability and negotiating with venues where necessary. • Put plan / facilities in place to meet the needs of all functional areas:o Medical – staff, equipment, locations, 3rd parties (suppliers & hospital access)o Disciplinary – Travel, match footage, team access, hearing facilities and assisting with procedures where applicable. o Anti-Doping – ensure appropriate facilities were available for both in and out of competition testing. Meeting all procedural and confidential requirements. o Match Officials – travel, accommodation, training and general assistance. o Ball team – recruited and managed 2 managers and monitored the recruitment and training of approx. 60 ball team members. o All of the above was done within strict budget guidelines. • Recruited, trained and managed team of match day volunteers for all match and training venues (approx. 30 people).• Assisted with moving the tournament from Dublin to Belfast for latter stages of the tournament.

Training:• Design and deliver all training material to be presented at workshops.• Run 1 to 1 and group workshops for candidates on CV preparation and Interview skills.• Assist candidates in applying for positions – application forms and internet etc.• Carry out “Mock Interviews” with candidates in preparation for interviews.• Workshops carried out with variety of candidates from school leavers to seasoned professionals. • Work with candidates across all levels to identify options available to them when looking at the next stage of their career – This involves working with candidates at all levels from school college leavers to experienced employees looking to make a change or who find themselves in the position of facing redundancy.
