EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT:Dudley Smith, MSHPA, has over 35 years of experience in emergency medical services and emergency management and disaster preparedness both in the hospital and health care setting and in public services. Most recently he was the founder and Director of Air Care and Mobile Care at University Hospital in Cincinnati, where he also served as the chairmen of the hospital’s disaster preparedness committee. Dudley has served in a variety of regional emergency management functions including active membership on the Local Emergency Planning Committee, chairing the Government Liaison Committee for Red Cross Disaster Services, and chairing the regional health council Disaster Committee. He is an instructor in both the First Responder and First Receiver classes for Hazardous Material Awareness and Operations, but is perhaps best known for his classes in the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS). Dudley was part of the HICS development review committee and has taught nearly 100 HICS and HICS instructor classes throughout Ohio and the region. On a national level, he is working with FEMA/NIMS on EMS resource typing and triage and transport target capabilities. Dudley holds numerous certifications in a variety of emergency management subjects including Incident Command, Public Information, WMD and Hazmat. He received his BS degree in Psychology and Master of Science Degree in Health Planning and Administration from the University of Cincinnati.
