Developed a cohesive team of professionals that could cross-pollinate workflows and expertise to excel the practice at large while implementing an overall strategy for BIM Software Deployment. Provided input to legal counsel regarding BIM contractual requirements. Integrated with the CIO to develop hardware and software solutions required for BIM implementation to align with IT and Digital Practice initiatives. My focus was leading digital practice platform initiatives centered on process and project delivery where we interlaced LEAN workflows as part of every implementation. I strategized and established Perkins+Will’s first VD+C Specialist position as an internal role to inject clash detection and constructability reviews into the design phases. I co-leed the firm-wide development and training for the Project Information Management platform (Newforma). I regularly engaged design teams to assist them with guidance on how to execute best practices and lessons learned on Revit projects while tapping into my +20 years of experience in the Architecture & Engineering industry. This often required creative, innovative thinking within the bounds of the firm-wide standards to address the diversity of project types, team structures and project goals that we encountered at Perkins+Will. At the same time, we continually reassessed policies and workflows to identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improve the most important non-renewable resource = TIME.

Develop and maintain a training program for multiple design application software packages. Assisting the Managing Director and support groups with office-related CAD/BIM issues while assuring that documentation is being prepared efficiently. Assisting Project Managers and Project Designers in projecting CAD/BIM scope and budget, as well as monitoring project progress. Contribute to the team development of companywide production standards, guidelines and help documents while establishing firm-wide implementation best practices for Revit Architecture software. Work side-by-side with the team members in the production of construction documents. Provide staff evaluation and skills assessment to support the Resource Manger in project staffing. Service lines include Architecture, Interior Design and Master Planning.

Provided instruction for student classes ranging in sizes from 5 to 45 over the last 6 years of my military career. Responsibilities included conducting training, maintaining all classroom equipment and securely maintained compliance with all testing material in accordance with Army regulations. Continually stressed the importance of senior leadership while providing soldiers with the knowledge to accomplish the Army mission for their career path. Responsible for counseling soldiers, providing career guidance and preparing contract documents for continued military service and education benefits for +100 soldiers in my unit.I completed 20 years of service in June of 2007 and entered the Retired Reserves.

Managed a team of seven CAD Managers firm-wide. Provided key development and training of the core AEC applications for the firm as we increased staff size from 45 to +300 in 5 years as well as growing from a single office to 7 locations across the United States. Provided initial new-hire, migration and ongoing training programs for the design staff while providing support for the firm wide ADT system of 250+ users. Planned, programmed, developed training and implemented the network conversion of; (30+ CAD stations from AutoCAD 14 to Architectural Desktop 3.3), then (75+ users to ADT2004) and finally (250+ users to ADT2006 across 5 offices). Service lines included Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Structures, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing.

Managed a three person IT department in providing 24 hour hardware, software and application support for +275 employees in 3 worldwide offices. Support included servers, workstations, LAN, WAN and Internet infrastructure. Co-coordinated the network conversion and integration of all three offices, +230 CAD stations from AutoCAD 12 to AutoCAD 14. Performed network server hardware installation, data migration and software upgrade including disaster recovery implementation and installation. Reduced IT spending by (30% = $100,000) in 2001 and projected an additional $190,000 savings for 2002. Service lines included Architecture, Interior Design, Master Planning, Landscape Architecture and Graphic Design.

Responsible for preparation of Needs Assessment Plans and client budget applications. Responsibilities also included the preparation of specifications and CAD drawings in design development and construction documents phases. Served as project coordinator between clients, engineers, building officials, inspectors and contractors. Reviewed shop drawings, pay request and bid proposals. Utilized graphics software to develop company brochures and presentations.
