Seamanship• Conducting Health & Safety briefings to ensure tasks are carried out in a safe and controlled manner• Mooring and anchoring the ship, using both chain and cordage bridles• Launching, recovering and maintenance of all boats onboard• Responsible for coordinating and controlling all parts of the ship at harbour stations, when coming alongside and leaving a berth• Supervising cleanliness and maintenance of the upper deck, including anchors, cables, boats, booms, ladders, ropes and rigging• Rigging and de-rigging accommodation, pilot ladders, booms, danbouys, scrambling nets and gangway positions• Managing the seamanship aspect of ‘Replenishment at Sea’ operations, such as fuel or stores• Responsible for servicing and maintaining all safety and survival equipment onboard, including lifejackets and liferafts• Launching scanning equipment for surveying purposes• Responsible for safety and lowering equipment for diving operations Security• Organised patrols to ensure the safety of personnel, equipment, vehicles and premises• Managing emergency response teams to deal with security breaches, fire and flood incidents• Collated, communicated and accounted for classified material• High profile public duties, such as royal visits, Navy days, and The Royal TournamentTraining• Instructed and assessed personnel in Navigation, Seamanship, Sailing, Fire Fighting and Fire PreventionSailing• Frequently used VHF (DSC), RADAR, NAVTEX, ECDIS and other chart plotters, GPS and autopilot systems• Confident and competent with manual navigation• Knowledge of MCA coding of boats • Carrying out engine checks and cleaning and servicing routines• Responsible for sea survival and safety briefings for passengersValid British passport, Seaman’s Discharge Book and Seafarer Medical Certificate (ENG 1).Excellent health and a non-smoker.
