I have been a certified Phlebotomist since 2016. I initially took a phlebotomy course in South Carolina and took the national Phlebotomy Technician certification exam: The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). However, I moved back to California in 2017 and had to retake the course all over again and have since been Board Certified with the state of California. I started my Phlebotomy career with AltaSciences which is a Clinical Research company. I was assigned to perform timed blood draws, obtaining blood pressure and performing EKG's on trial participants. After a year, I was hired at Quest Diagnostics were I was exposed to a variety of patients varying from pediatric, geriatric, special needs, and adult patients- to name a few. Besides performing venipuncture, I also gained experience with processing specimens by aliquoting blood and urine samples, placing samples in respective temperatures (Room Temperature, Refrigerated, and/ or Frozen), and data entry. About 2.5 years after Quest Diagnostics, I became part of Torrance Memorial Medical Center team. With the experience I have gained, I continue to prioritize compassionate patient care and posses strong cooperative skills with the ability to work effectively within teams. Since the medical field industry is in constant change, I am amenable to learning new skills, adapt quickly to industry changes, and continue to further my career’s education and expertise.
