Charles directed the Seventhwave's mission-driven education program which delivered over 20 continuing education, training, webinars and conference events annually, reaching over 2,000 professionals each year, including architects, engineers, sustainability directors, energy efficiency practitioners, program managers, energy managers and utility staff. This program advanced knowledge and skills related to sustainability and energy efficiency in the built environment. In addition to managing a $1.25 million dollar budget, and leading the 6-person program team, he was responsible for the business development and client relations necessary to generate most of this revenue as well as the successful completion of over 20 education programs per year. In support of a commercial new construction program in Illinois, he directed and produced continuing education seminars/networking events for leading sustainability architects and builders in the Chicago area to raise awareness about the program and increase program participation. For the DoE funded Accelerate Performance project, he worked closely with the project principal to design and co-facilitate strategic kick-off meetings for multiple stakeholders including: leading Chicago sustainability architects and building sustainability managers, utility executives, NREL and a major international property management and investment company. In addition, for the Minnesota State Energy Office, he led led the Seventhwave team responsible for the design and facilitation of multi-stakeholder meetings to obtain stakeholder input on key issues affecting Minnesota’s energy savings goals related to current regulatory constructs as well as new proposals related to industrial energy efficiency and combined heat and power.
