I have a bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with second class honours lower division (GPA-3.0/4.0) from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka, an engineering degree program accredited under the Washington accord.Currently, I am employing with China Harbour Engineering Company Limited and China Geo Engineering Corporation Joint Venture as a Non-Revenue Water (NRW) engineer of the project “Greater Colombo Water and Wastewater Management Improvement Investment Program System Rehabilitation for NRW Reduction in the West Part of the Colombo City”. Here I am driving technical development of allactivities related to Non-Revenue Water Reduction and handling documentary records with updated GISdata, monitoring formats and water balance calculations. Previously, I completed a one-year appointment at Marvel Icon Private Limited as a site engineer of one of the rural water supply project of the country, where I mainly performed documentation and site works within a given time frame, inspecting and monitoring site works and ensuring site safety and observed consultations. Having been involved in water supply projects during my entire career, I have developed a strong interest in understanding the role I can play as a civil engineer in sustainable water management, which would also be a strict requirement of all utilities in the drive towards sustainable use of resources in a future green planet. During my final year undergraduate research project, I conducted a research on a project specially related to the Coastal Engineering entitled “Wave energy resource assessment for the western and north-western coasts of Sri Lanka” under the supervision of Dr. Vidura Vithana, who is a PhD holder of UCL, London. I used DELFT3D wave model to transfer long term wave data extracted from satellite altimeters to compute available wave power in the nearshore area. The research was published as a paper at the“Vidulka” national energy conference in 2019. I completed both my internships at building sector and road sector, and also now I have an enormous interest in the field of all areas of Civil Engineering. However, since I was following a hybrid degree program which covered most of the areas related to Civil and Environmental Engineering, I strongly believe I was able to get a much diversified knowledge in theory and practical.
