My main responsibilities are; The make safe and assessment of all non-urgent firearms, ammunition and component parts. Submission of the relevant firearms, ammunition and component parts to the Metropolitan police forensic firearms unit. Updating the National firearms database with reference to all relevant exhibits both those for submission and non-submission. Metropolitan Police Responsibilities (Continued); Updating Crime reports with relevant information and advice. Providing real time specialist help and advice to officers in case and at scenes. Providing training and safety advice to officers and staff of all ranks and grades on boroughs with respect to firearms. Auditing and checking of borough compliance in respect to the storage of firearms, ammunition and component parts, as exhibits and for destruction. Providing monthly data for statistical analysis in respect to the above.

H.M. Prison ServiceI served for over eight years as a Discipline Officer in one of the countries highest security prisons. In this time I assumed a variety of roles all within the context of working as a Discipline Officer on both specialist and residential units, these included; DSPD (Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder Unit), two years. VP (Vulnerable Prisoner) Residential Wing, one year. Segregation Unit, three years. Main Residential Wings, two years. Specialist trained advanced Riot Officer. ‘Lifer’ TrainedIn this time job specific roles would include; Collator. Assumes over all control of all the daily routines on the wing, including all numbers and paperwork this generates. Cleaning Officer. Controls all of the daily cleaning parties and all of the food service on the day. As well as issues of toiletries and clothing to prisoners. Admin/censor officer. Controls all of the prisoners mail both in and out as well as any money. Two’s Officer, Controls one of the wings ‘spurs’ for the daily routine. Movements. Helps the collator to ensure all movements are conducted safely and without incident, also helps keep a running tally of prisoners on a wing at any given moment. Supervision of prisoner’s working parties.During this time I also under took voluntary studies to qualify for a NVQ Level Two and Three in Custodial Care, amongst other things.

Armed forces (Army, Royal Engineers)I served for almost four years in the Royal Engineers and after attending the Army Training Regiment at Bassingbourn Barracks where I learned the basic skills required by all professional soldiers, I was sent to Gibraltar Barracks to complete a Combat Engineering Course (Skills shown below). On successful completion of this course I was sent straight to the Army’s Defence Driving School at R.A.F. Leconfield where I qualified for my C+E(1) and was also trained in Cross Country, Skid Pan, Defensive and Tactical driving skills in a variety of vehicles from Land Rovers to Eight Tonne Lorries as well as qualifying for my ‘Hazmat’ License (since expired). I also served with 39 Engineer Regiment on a construction tour in Belize as well as a High Risk Arms and Explosive Search Team in Northern Ireland, gaining a City and Guilds qualification as well as a GSM and more aggressive tactical and defensive driving skills in the process.Key Skills Gained from H.M. Forces; Basic Infantry skills including, Field Craft, Survival Techniques, Weapon Handling and Marksmanship Skills, FIBUA (fighting in a built up area), NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare). Basic Field Engineering (Tool familiarisation and Techniques). Water Supply (inc NBC). Demolitions. Field Defences. Booby Traps. Mine warfare (Laying and Detection/Removal). Watermanship. Non-Equipment Bridging. Equipment Bridging. Roads and Airfields Maintenance (Inc. Bomb Damage Repair).
