After obtaining a First for Law at Staffordshire University in two years, I have started studing for my LLM and BPC at ULaw in Birmingham.In the summer of 2022 I was lucky enough to go to Canada and work for Jack Woodward QC on a native land rights case for the Nuchatlaht First Nations researching documents from the 18th and 19th centuries in order to prove the Band's claim to their traditional territory in British Columbia. The case is still ongoing but it's looking good.In 2022 I was part of a pair of students who reached the finals of the National Client Interviewing competition, unfortunately we were not the best on the day and did not win.Since starting my Law Degree I have been networking and was able to spend two whole days with Judge David Fletcher CBE at Crown Court, not only observing the court but with the Judge in his chambers explaining the process and his reasoning for sentences as well as his reviewing of offenders on probation and garnering his opinions on the CJS and sentencing policy.This year I will be working in the University's free legal clinic advising clients on a range of matters as a volunteer; due to the accelerated nature of my course I will recieve no credit towards my degree but the experience can only be invaluable.My days as a shop steward included a couple of years as a National Shop Steward where I was involved in negotiations with a major UK Supermarket as well as representing members in hundreds of disciplinary and grievence hearings and dealing with disputes on a more informal basis. In my experience informal chats can often be more productive than formal, more confontational, discussions. Throughout my worklife I have discovered that I have a talent for dealing with a wide range to people; from blue collar workers with a basic school education to senior professionals and academics and can speak on the appropriate level to the situation.
