8 days on 6 days off camp work in the Tofino region on the West Coast of Vancouver Island• Assisting site manager and area manager in planning and adjusting of production cycle (site start up, smolt entry, fish splits, harvest and site shut down/disinfection)• Leading day to day operations of saltwater facility and staff in a manner that aligned with company values• Duties included but not limited to: training/supervising staff, feeding fish, environmental/algae checks, mortality collection/fish health checks, weight/sealice checks, ordering site needs (feed, fuel, equipment), coordinating with contractors/other seasites, interdepartmental/external communication installing aeration equipment. • Inputting production, environmental and compliance data using various data bases and tools: Fish Talk, Word, Excel and Intelex. As well as maintaining onsite paper copies.• Conducting daily site checks and monthly/quarterly safety checks and meetings.• Ensure compliance prior to and during various government and Third party audits (Department of Fisheries & Oceans, ASC, BAP)Extra projects I completed were filling ISO tanks for hydrogen peroxide treatments, simultaneously shutting down 3 farms, and a 10 day shift of leading Smolt inputs to various farms in the area.

Canoeing and flying into the interior lakes, of Algonquin Provincial Park, in order to record waypoints and tracks of campsites/portages. The data recorded was used to gain further knowledge of the exact location of interior campsites and portages. The information collected was used to construct physical and digital maps of Algonquin Parks interior canoe/backpacking routes.

Working closely with the Park Wardens, the role of the Interior Canoe Ranger was to assist with enforcement duties, clean/maintain interior campsites/portages, and to interact with Algonquin Park visitors. The majority of the work took place in the interior of the park traveling by canoe and occasionally motor boat. Day trips were conducted from the main staff house on Cedar Lake or by doing multi day canoe trips in the interior.
