During my Industrial Placement year with Siemens, I gained a valuable insight in to an Engineering Career and developed a crucial set of skills to be utilised in the future. During my time at the company I was involved in a number of projects at various points in their lifecycle. Most notably I was responsible for the testing of a control systems upgrade for East Coast Main Line. As my placement progressed my work became more design focused leading to creating a tunnel telephone training system for London Underground. Working closely with the Technical Field Services team on my placement I was heavily involved with tasks such as planned preventative maintenance and minor upgrade installations. This work greatly improved my onsite practical ability and showed me the importance of working closely with a customer to complete a project to the highest standard.
