Pact is a non-profit international development organization that works across 40 countries to combat poverty and marginalization by partnering with local organizations, businesses, and governments on a wide range of thematic areas including capacity development, public health, governance and civil society, natural resource management, small-scale and artisanal mining, and microfinance.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬In my role of Environmental and Social Compliance Officer, I worked on USAID-funded projects in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and South Sudan, developing environmental requirements, delivering strategic advice on country-specific Environmental and Social Governance requirements, and ensuring projects comply with industry best practices.Key Contributions and Results:♦ Piloted an Environmental Assessment and Environmental Management Plan for the repatriation and resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons and refugees in Old Fangak, South Sudan.♦ Directed an Environmental Assessment of Pact’s Water for Recovery and Peace Program (WRAPP) in South Sudan, and led successful public consultations on implementation of various water and sanitation projects in Upper Nile, Bahr-El-Ghazal, and Equitoria regions of South Sudan.♦ Drove the Environmental and Social Assessment and Management Plan for the rehabilitation of Rumbek Regional Hospital in South Sudan.♦ Conducted an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for community-based natural resources enterprise projects.♦ Formulated Training of Trainers (ToT) materials for Environmental and Social Assessment of development projects in Africa, as well as a sourcebook and best practices for assessing projects in Great Horn of Africa.

As an Independent Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) Consultant, I conducted various environment and social assessments and advised on permitting and implementation of environmental and social development plans.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬Key Contributions and Results:♦ Resettlement Action plan (RAP) Consultant: Updated the Resettlement Policy Framework for the Rwanda Rural Sector Support Project II, in line with the World Bank’s Involuntary Resettlement Safeguard Policy, Rwandan Law, and customary procedures.♦ Environmental Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Consultant: Conducted an ESIA and developed an Environmental and Social Management Plan for the Rural Sector Support Project for the World Bank and Rwanda’s Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources. ♦ Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) Specialist: Reviewed and updated the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the raising of Masinga Dam for Knight Piésold and Mott Ewbank Peace and Development.
