• STRATEGYLeading energy road mapping session & engaging business leaders on a 5 year plan for Malt Distilling’s energy. Programme manager for energy and carbon identifying all key strategic growth plans and development areas.• PLACEMENT SUPERVISIONRecruitment & management of chemical engineering students on 6 month placements. Engagement & coaching on technical aspects of their projects. Developing practical engineering experience and inspiring them about our business and industry.• CARBON NEUTRALITYManagement of the workstream & technical direction of the business’ Carbon Neutral strategy. Modelling different carbon reduction technologies (biomass burning, anaerobic digestion, biofuels, green electricity generation). Planning to meet short and long term targets, identifying up to £100m of projects at various different sites. Also working on innovative & novel research projects for potential commercial development.• ENERGY MANAGEMENTLead for energy reporting and efficiency improvements across all 34 sites (malt distilleries, malting, co-product treatment plants), an energy budget of £30-35m. Technical expert providing training and direction for all sites on energy efficiency as well as target and budget setting. Annual returns for several legislative energy and carbon schemes as well as many other corporate KPIs.• PROCESS INVESTIGATIONSTechnical expert for Malt Distilling processes providing specialist support for investigations. Solving process problems & investigating root causes.• CAPITAL PROJECTSTechnical assistance at the design, implementation & commissioning stages of capital projects; any part of concept to implementation. Including sizing calcs, HAZOPs, energy usage, capacities and process changes.• OTHERInvolvement in other areas of the business promoting our brands and the business. Presenting at IBD seminars/visits on Diageo technical and innovation projects.
