I've covered a wide range of work as a freelance engineer in the UK and abroad. As an engineer I can work across many disciplines, having worked as Guarantee, Systems, RF, Vision and Project Engineer but with a particular interest in system build and execution.I'm fortunate to continue to be a part of many important televised events, including Olympics, World Cups, Formula 1 (2014-Present), The Oxford Cambridge Boat Race (2014 - Present), European Championship Athletics, M32, Extreme Sailing and WMRT Sailing Tours.I do a wide variety of specialist hardware programming work for different broadcasters, some examples include:- Tracking hardware/software systems used on Sailing events and the Oxford Cambridge Boat Race providing precision positioning, stroke data and heartrate data.- Presenter overlay system; Showing product details, phone caller information and other text, over mixer program feed for studio monitors, designed for QVC and deployed in UK, US and French markets.- Simple instant replay system allowing capture and instant replay, distributed network-based architecture allows input and output expansion using off the shelf hardware. Clip import and export at far lower cost than commercial systems.

Broadcast Projects Engineer for QVC UK. Part of the 6 person team responsible for designing and managing the migration of QVC’s UK broadcast operations from Battersea to the companies bespoke new building in Chiswick Park. Responsible for solution evaluation, selection and delivery of IF/RF distribution, transmissioncompliance systems, off-air monitoring systems, IPTV, internal AV fit-out, videoconferencing and assisting other parts of the broadcast projects stream. Developed several bespoke software applications including a preview text overlaysystem displaying various timecode sources, prompt text, and caller display information(automatically populated from Phonebox servers) for studio presenters as well as scripts formedia synchronisation and management between Isilon storage nodes across both sites.

Responsible for providing day-to-day maintenance and first-line escalation for QVC UK as part of the 24/7 Engineering Operations team. Provided support for studios, post-production (Quantel + StorNext) and transmission, assistance with projects and planned works as required.

Provided support for 3 studios, Avid Edit suites, Broadcast and IPTV Playout using Pharos, Pebble Beach and Omneon playout systems at Mirada's London media centre in Wapping (no longer in use).Involved in the installation of new systems, ensuring facility drawings, cable schedules and documentationare kept up to date as well as developing a number of small software applications for monitoring, control and compliance.

Shift engineer for Arqiva's London Engineering Team. Responsible for the maintenance and general health of the compression, transmission and contribution systems for Arqiva's Satellite Media Solutions London area customers including ITV, Channel 4, Discovery Networks, Turner Broadcast and many others.

Responsible for ensuring transmission feeds from the studios, vision control, Radamec camera control, lighting, first line technical authority for the live studio as well as interfacing between the production crew and site technical staff for the Sky Vegas Channel.

4 month contract with YooMedia Plc as Support Engineer for Studios and Transmission facilities as well as assisting with a studio move and associated facilities alteration

Project managed the upgrade of Studio A at Ravensbourne College, taking the composite infrastructure to SD SDI and refitting the production gallery to accommodate new equipment. This included the replacement of all previous gallery furniture, monitor stack, vision mixer, CG, still store and VTR's, the introduction of UMD's to the production gallery as well as integrating the facility ProBel SDI matrix into the studio infrastructure for router sourcing of device inputs.Produced all technical drawings for the build as well as liaising with suppliers and scheduling the works for the two week available window. This was completed during free time outside of the degree program and was not a course requirement merely a result of a strong interest in taking on the task and a good relationship with faculty staff.
