After acquiring the error-reporting startups Airbrake and Exceptional.io, Rackspace needed to expand and unify their technologies, and to begin competing in the nascent field of browser error-reporting. Using test-driven techniques I built a modular system for sanitizing and reporting errors to their in-development API. My solution delivered unique, cutting-edge features not found in any other client-side reporters including full Unicode and source-map support, enabling developers utilizing modern JavaScript deployment techniques to receive context-rich reports from a huge range of browsers. The delivered solution focused on keeping page-load times to a minimum through non-blocking loading and an asynchronous API while still remaining lean and convenient.

Worked with an international team of developers and product managers designing, implementing, and launching a social networking site for a targeted youth community. Features developed included real-time communications channels, dynamic resizable and rotatable browser graphics, an asynchronous messaging system, cross-domain content embedding and light-boxing, payment systems integration, a virtual currency marketplace, mobile-optimized responsive views, and content moderation workflow interfaces. I also configured a Vagrant-based development environment including automated provisioning, services management through Foreman, extensive testing tooling for both front and back-end code, a suite of data portability tools, and an API mapping layer for mobile (iOS) and rich JavaScript clients.

As one of Kongregate's original engineers, I helped grow the site to a million and half monthly unique visitors and establish itself as an important player in an emerging casual-games, microtransaction-driven industry.I worked to help the company carve a decisive, principled path into this field, and was proud to be involved with the creation of a site that encouraged young people to try their hand at programming, and rewarded them with respect and with money for their creations.My team implemented a low-latency, priority-driven statistics submission API, and developed many features around the system. The rich features we built on top of this make Kongregate one of the stickiest sites on the Internet.Using agile development practices, I provided quick turn-around on features enabling us to bang out interactive, customized campaigns that Advertisers and Users loved.I developed rich, JavaScript-powered client interfaces, designed application models to capture business logic, tuned databases and the application to minimize response times, and wrote a powerful asset-packager to maximize browser-side responsiveness.

I built a video asset management system for internal use by a team of videographers and hardware developers. The system provided a non-heirarchical tagging system for tracking individual assets as well as a taxonomic skeleton for providing these assets to the office appliance used by dental professionals.

Working with a bankruptcy lawyer, I built a modular, web-based personal bankruptcy filing system for streamlining client flow through bankruptcy proceedings and presenting gathered information in succinct reports for generating legal paperwork.
