I am a driven and versatile P&L leader with a record in transforming international manufacturing and engineering businesses to increase their value. These businesses have ranged from £30m to £225m revenue, up to 1200 staff and 14 sites across multiple countries. I combine sharp analysis with clarity of purpose, clear communication and a drive for results. I have a 25 year track record in building and revitalising businesses in aerospace, defence, automotive and advanced materials. International experience includes Europe, USA, Canada, Africa, India and Asia. I am a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and have an MBA.--------------------There is huge satisfaction to be earned from seeing a business succeed and perform superbly. Howeverwhat greater pleasure is there in business than seeing a team transform from being slightly lost, poorly aligned and uncertain to flourishing, performing and happy? - The frustrated and slightly truculent shop steward, a year later enthusiastic, bright eyed and able to understand and improve gross margins. Being so focussed on customer service that he gives unsupported customer tours. - The "put upon" and stressed finance team who had been presiding over a month-end process that took 15 working days (or more!) given space and encouragement to grip the process. After sixteen weeks the month end figures are then consistently available after only 4 working days. - The previously harangued, harassed and bad-mouthed project manager and lead engineer turning around performance so that their monthly programme reviews are no longer disasters but moments of pride and recognition as they turn in yet another month of boring, budget-beating margins. - The junior sales exec's beaming face as he returns from a customer visit with his first deal (however small!). - The stores manager that reduces "dock to stock" time by 75%... So I look back on my career at the businesses which have been revitalised. And that is great. But I also reflect on the people in those businesses that have grown and been more fulfilled too. And that is wonderful too.
