Responsible for a large multi-trades team who have safely delivered and achieved customer acceptance, signed off for completion, on time, within budget and to the right quality, the out-fitting of mechanical, electrical and hull systems for 6000 tonnes of ship section. Achievements include: Fully supported the business directive to improve safety and reporting of hazards. Implementation of controls and initiatives to increase awareness, hazard reporting, and reward for positive behaviors, has shown a reduction of the number and level of accidents from 2012 to 2013 by 54%. The expectation for 2014 is that we will reduce the 2013 figure by a further 50% and we are on target to exceed it. A member of the leadership team who were instrumental in developing the build strategy and methodology used to deliver out-fitting for the QEC class aircraft carrier sections built at Portsmouth.  Developed the process used to monitor, review and improve High Risk Operations. All Managers are now tasked to carry out a safety inspection each week in different operational locations. The objectives are to ‘peer review’ comment, maintain and build on their current knowledge, understanding and implementation of safe working and to ensure a consistent approach to Health, Safety and Environment is being applied. Successfully worked with my production Team leaders and Charge Hands to maintain good lines of communication for focus on critical issues, change control, risks to delivery of the programme and to provide support and guidance for problem resolution, whilst retaining motivation and drive to finish our work scope. Maintained a professional approach to my work and sensitivity to my team during changes brought on by the business decision to cease shipbuilding in Portsmouth.

Bvt Shipbuilding (Portsmouth)

Responsible for a multi-trades team to safely deliver the ‘first of class’ out-fitting of mechanical, electrical and hull systems with conformance to quality standards with completion of inspection, system testing and customer acceptance/sign-off. Achievements include: Successfully progressed out-fitting systems at an early stage of build and ahead of plan by refining the Design Area plan with the team, to focus on structural completion and advance the painting plan. Successfully delivered completion, inspection, handover and sign-off of all compartments and integrated electrical and mechanical systems with compliance to Lloyds overseeing authority standards and to customer satisfaction.
