In the late 1990s I was commissioned as a freelance journalist to write about technology for a range of independent and national computer magazines, including ComputerActive, PC Advisor, and Public Sector Computing, together with a series of end user case studies for Evesham Computers. In 2002 I completed my first novel, still available on Kindle as "Youthenasia," and in 2009 I had the first of two business books commissioned by Pearson: Brilliant Meetings and Managing Productive Meetings. More recently, in 2014 and 2017 as business development projects, I self-published two specialist books on digital technology for new learning spaces in higher and further education. And in 2019 I contributed a chapter [Learning Spaces for Digital Learning in Higher Education] to the Encyclopaedia of Educational Innovation published by Springer.Before the end of 2020 I will publish my first book on Customer Service, returning to a subject that I wrote several articles on at the start of my writing career. There's another "whodunnit" waiting to get out...

Prior to joining Jisc, I innovated the Digital Classroom Roadshow to help universities and colleges experiment with a fully configured active collaborative learning classroom temporarily installed on their own campus. In partnership with Jisc, for up to four weeks the host institution can expose a wide range of campus development professionals, staff, students and SLT’s to the potential of wireless collaboration to enhance the student experience and success in many areas of their lives. In 2017 the roadshow evolved into the Sticky Campus Roadshow as it expanded the discussion and provided examples for enabling any space on campus with innovative technologies to become an engaging learning space.At each hosting location, workshops on ‘Rethinking Learning Spaces’ were available for all Jisc members to attend, which also provided an opportunity for colleagues from academic and technical communities to meet and discuss common issues.The roadshow has been responsible for initiating UK-wide changes with learning spaces design, curriculum redesign and delivery, and the choice of wireless collaboration technologies on a wide range of HE and FE campuses.As the full-time Senior Lead for Digital Learning Spaces within the Innovation and Analytics Directorate at Jisc, I'll be working to incorporate Jisc’s key strategic programmes into this highly valued roadshow, thereby increasing its relevance to Jisc’s membership; both host institutions and regional participants alike.The 2020 roadshow is now fully booked; yet more evidence of its value to host universities and colleges in a way that no conference or exhibition can compete with, as they digitally transform their campuses.
