Understanding my Senator's interests, delivering advice on policy and process, developing and consulting with wide networks, and preparing bills and amendments. Achieved significant policy change through negotiations on behalf of and alongside the Senator. Built broad awareness of the Senator's policy approach through the extensive preparation of speeches and newspaper articles.

Managed the Treasury's general policy strategy, research and coordination area: researching, consulting and advising on public and private sector productivity; and helping to coordinate the Government's agenda of reviews and reforms. Authored the environment sections of the 2010 Intergenerational Report. Managed the Treasury's energy and greenhouse area, contributing to the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, the Henry Tax Review and a review into nuclear power. Early in my Treasury career I researched fiscal strategies, advised on monetary policy settings, costed income tax cuts, instructed on legislative drafting, and analysed competition policy.

Helped negotiate tax treaties, analysed tax proposals, undertook consultations, briefed Ministers and managed staff.
