Duncan is a web designer and developer based in East Yorkshire, UK. He has extensive experience in successfully delivering commercial web projects, from simple WordPress websites through to complex, custom-built web applications. As a front- and back-end developer Duncan’s skillset is both broad and deep. His background in print and design means he is no less at home pushing pixels around in Photoshop and Illustrator than he is writing code and joining database tables.He is passionate about helping businesses use technolgy effectively. Duncan loves well-designed, practical and elegant solutions. A pragmatic and value-driven approach has earned him a reputation as a respected technology consultant and advisor.After a short stint in the British Army Intelligence Corps, Duncan’s introduction to digital publishing came in 1990. He cut his teeth creating newspaper layouts and information graphics on early compact Macintosh computers. In the ten years that followed he held a succession of creative and technical positions in the design, print and packaging industries. In 1999 he founded Art & Soul Communications Ltd. The company in now firmly established as a boutique web design and development shop with a portfolio of clients throughout the Hull and Humber region and beyond.Duncan was a founder member of C4DI, Hull’s world-class workspace and start-up incubator for digital and tech businesses. He has spoken at Hull Digital and local business networking events.Along with his wife he produces the Petuaria Press – a quarterly magazine-style newsletter published by his local Town Council.Day job aside Duncan is an accomplished landscape photographer. He has been widely published and exhibited, and has been shortlisted for the UK’s Landscape Photographer of the Year. In his spare time he makes music and owns more synthesizers than is strictly necessary. For beer money he plays double bass in the Laggy Band and was formerly bass guitarist for the legendary Rattlefish.
