My lab goal is to develop new synthetic methodologies for preparations of potential pharmaceuticals. Advancing new synthetic methods would open the gate for the exploration of new biomedical projects. The new synthetic methodologies would expand the toolbox of reactions available to synthetic chemists to prepare the types of structures that can be evaluated and advanced in biomedical contexts.My lab intend to develop a research program in the broadly defined fields of strategic asymmetric methods and target-oriented synthesis. Concerning the area of strategic asymmetric methods, my research will focus primarily on the development of novel stereoselective processes using natural occurring α-aminoacids and α-hydroxyacids as chiral pools to access highly complex intermediates under operationally mild conditions. Methods encompassing the general areas of stereoselective desymmetrization are of particular interest. In the context of natural product synthesis, targets will be selected on the basis of their biological activity and structural complexity. Specifically, my lab is interested in tetrahydrofuran-based complex molecules that inspire the development of new strategies and methods for their construction.
