National Program Manager - Sbcc
Johns Hopkins Center For Communication Programs (Ccp)
At CCP, I worked on two large scale projects:Project Ujjwal, funded by UK Aid under its “Improved Family Planning and Reproductive Health Services in India” framework. I was instrumental in deploying a multi-channel behavior change campaign using a mix of mass media, mid-media, interpersonal communication (IPC) and ICT4D. The communication tools developed for this initiative required a thorough understanding of behavioral economics involved in adoption of modern contraceptive methods, nuanced understanding of cultural environment in the two project states of Bihar and Odisha and functional knowledge of available modern contraceptive methods. The communication tools were developed using a 3-step process of pre-testing– rapid assessment to understand the knowledge gap, pre-testing of the creative concept and pre-testing the final material before deployment in the field. The project required regular coordination with the state teams, consortium partners and government stakeholders.ROSHNI Project - Rights for Sanitation, Health and Nutrition Initiative. The project was funded by UNICEF to implement an SBCC program to affect stunting among children 0-36 months in three states of Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. I was responsible for developing overall SBCC strategy. The process involved conducting a literature review of existing papers, evidence driven content analysis of available communication materials, rapid assessment to understand existing nutrition, hygiene and sanitation practices, and formative study to understand service delivery mechanisms of ICDS and Swachh Bharat Mission, and existing WASH and nutrition behaviors and norms.
