As the Lead Organizer for TEDxThirdWard, I oversee the planning and execution of a half-day event designed to inspire innovation, collaboration, and action. My role includes recruiting and coaching speakers, building strategic partnerships, managing a diverse team of volunteers, and ensuring the event aligns with TEDx standards. Through this work, I aim to create a platform for bold ideas that connect global thinking with local impact, empowering attendees to dream, dare, and do.

After successfully lobbying Harris County Commissioner's Court for groundbreaking jail-based votingpolicy and jail-based polling location, a first in Texas:-Spearheaded a national advocacy campaign providing strategic support to campaigners and government officials in (7) local entities and (6) state legislatures toadopt similar policies.-Led a team of campaigners and organizers in developing comprehensive, actionable policy andadvocacy plans-Authored briefing paper aimed at educating local efforts around jail-based voting

Led field team of 5 organizers for Senator Warren’s Primary bid for POTUS.

Working America, community affiliate of the AFL-CIO, is the fastest growing organization for working people in the country. With more than three million members, Working America recruits and mobilizes people who do not have a union on the job in support of working families’ issues.I'm proud of the successes of our team thus far since joining Working America as Texas State Director. Our weekly member recruitment average is up 43% compared to my first week. Working with member mobilization staff and activists to develop new, innovative tools to track activism and communicate with new members, has resulted in a steady rise in engagement over the past four months. Most recently, our members and staff collected over 1,000 handwritten letters in support of an ordinance before Houston City Council that would eliminate wage theft. It's truly amazing to see organic growth in the Texas Labor movement.

In 2012, I coordinated the statewide communications for Texas Organizing Project which resulted in the following benchmarks:-(68) unique earned media hits acquired by press releases/media advisories I produced or by relationships built with reporters/editors. (7) media hits came from state/national outlets like New York Times and Texas Tribune, while the rest came from local outlets in television, radio and print.-Increased digital/social media following by over %100 in the second quarter of 2012, then again by another %100 during the last two quarters.-Created/designed Texas Organizing Project-Education Fund's web-site using Wix as a content management system. (www.voicetexas.org)I coordinate internal/external communications of the organization by drafting press releases/media advisories and contacting outside media outlets to print or broadcast information to the general public. This includes writing, editing and distributing marketing materials, presenting information to the media or allied organizations and ensuring successful campaigns to promote position of the organization on issues. This includes creating community or public awareness of the organization and its role in the community, sponsoring or volunteering for events that represent the organization's interests.

I developed relationships with community and civic leaders to establish an active coalition to effectively advocate for neighborhood issues, local politics, and effective policy reforms across Texas.

Conducted legislative research, tracked legislation, policy research, speech writing, attended committee hearings and organization briefings related to legislative agenda.
