BJay focuses on serving all of the legal needs of lenders, real estate brokers and agents, developers, investors and other real estate professionals, as well as the clients they serve. BJay recently received the prestigious Alta 2.5 Best Practices Certification by Heard, McElroy & Vestal CPA firm, and is a licensed title insurance agent for Fidelity Title Insurance Company as well as First American Title Company of Louisiana. BJay is passionate about helping people and has a talent for helping clients navigate transactions quickly and smoothly. BJay enjoys teaching seminars and routinely speaks at events for area lenders and real estate agents, including a TRID and Best Practices Compliance Seminars for Lenders and Realtors.He is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University where he graduated with Honors. BJay attended law school at Louisiana State University Law Center where he earned both his Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Civil Law degrees and was a member of the Louisiana Law Review. At LSU, Mr. Durrett completed specialty coursework in Sales and Real Estate Transactions, Advanced Business Law, Civil and Common Law Property and also studied Comparative International Property Law abroad at Universite de Lyon III, Lyon, France.BJay assisted drafting legislative amendments to Community Development District Act and was instrumental in resolving client’s “hot button” legal issues by working closely with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office to interpret and draft opinions regarding the Louisiana Public Bid and Lease Laws and Intricate Contract use and interpretation.
