Research with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Luskin Institute on Inequality and Democracy under Dr. Ananya Roy. The UCLA Luskin Institute on Inequality and Democracy advances research and scholarship concerned with displacement and dispossession in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the world. Working in alliance with social movements and communities on the frontlines of struggle, the Institute seeks to abolish structures of inequality. Responsibilities include data cleaning qualitative analysis and archiving at the Los Angeles Skid Row History Museum with the Los Angeles Poverty Department for the Echo Park Lake Research Collective. Main focus is record keeping on the criminalization of poverty and carceral housing in Los Angeles.

Research with the Abolition and Youth Organizing Lab under Dr. David Turner III. Lab consisting of abolitionist theory in practice and youth organizing's impact on a socio-political scale in Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Responsible for data collection, data entry, data cleaning, and qualitative data analysis. Projects: Million Dollar Hoods, Police Free Schools, Confident Futures

As a participant of the competitive Undergraduate Research Fellows Program (URFP), I will be leading my research on student organizing and the agency that led to the passage of AB 101 (Ethnic Studies), as well as other youth-led policy wins in California.

Resident Assistants (RA) are live-in, part-time student staff. Under the supervision of a Resident Director and Assistant Resident Director, RAs are responsible for the administration and implementation of the student development program in a residential community. Foster a building-wide community through community engagement events.

The Policy team is responsible for GENup’s statewide policy initiatives. Directors of Policy research education policy issues, engage education stakeholders and write and advocate for pro-student legislation. Currently working in higher education policy. The Media team makes promotional and educational content for GENup social media and tracks engagement to maximize impact. The Chief Media Officer oversees Directors of Media by assigning and editing graphics and other projects, creating and carrying out a weekly social media schedule, and coordinating with other departments to broadcast our messaging to a wider audience. They should look to design comprehensive social media strategies across platforms and continuously look for ways to increase our impact and strengthen our messaging. Work alongside the Policy and Communications team during the legislative season.

Working towards abolition and amending the issues within the criminal legal system through holding law enforcement accountable and increasing community-based diversion and alternatives to incarceration in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area. Duties include conducting legal research, drafting and analysis for ongoing litigation and policy projects, community engagement, and public education.

Worked as one of two undergraduate student representatives providing advice to the University Administration on policies/programs to advance faculty diversity, including the recruitment and retention of women and underrepresented minorities.

Worked on updating the Luskin website on WordPress, while working alongside Luskin faculty in creating write-ups.

Delegates serve as the official liaison between their local student body association (SBA) and the SSCCC. Delegates work alongside SSCCC policy initiatives that impact all community college students in California, as well as work on local campaigns. Worked alongside the LACCD v. Payan case to advocate for disabled community college students within the Los Angeles Community College District--specifically worked on mobilizing and public commentary.

Overlooked and guided the Advocacy Committee at Orange Coast College. Executive position given as a first-year student based on experience with student organizing and California policy. The Advocacy Committee is a branch of SGOCC (Student Government of Orange Coast College) that researches and advocates for local, state, and federal legislation as it impacts the needs and concerns of students. They represent Orange Coast College when legislative visits are organized, as well as those issues pertaining to state and regional student affairs. The Advocacy Committee is a recommending body to the Student Senate on all matters regarding the statewide student government as recognized by the California Board of Governors; local, state, and federal legislation; advocating; and related tasks. Contender for California Board of Governors position, but declined due to transferring early.

Supported office needs, maintained business records, organized files and spreadsheets to bolster organizational workflow, and helped maintain a professional work environment. Worked directly with the CFO.

Reached out to constituents across California’s 39th Congressional District on their mental and physical health amidst the CoronaVirus Pandemic and provided resources if needed, phone banked for the 2020 election, and organized outreach.
