Deogratias is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a member of CPA Nova Scotia, ACCA and iCPAR, professional accounting bodies in Canada, UK and Rwanda respectively. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Economics, with specialization in Corporate Finance and Investment from the University of Mauritius, in 2010. He has also completed CFA Level I in 2023.Deogratias speaks English and French fluently.Since July 2021 Deogratias is the Director of Finance at Le Petit Voilier, a Halifax-based NFO that manages French speaking day care centers. He is also an appointed board member of Nova Scotia Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation (NSCUDIC), which is the primary regulator of Nova Scotia Credit Unions and Atlantic Central. Deogratias also seats on the board of Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank, a leading charity that provides food, furniture and emergency assistance to those in need, serving Halifax Regional Municipality.Deogratias served in various capacities in his home country, Rwanda between 2007 and 2021 before moving to Canada in mid-2021. His experiences in Rwanda include:(I) Supervisory Financial Analyst for US Agency for International Development (USAID) overseeing a team of financial analysts for USAID/Rwanda and providing support to Burundi office, since Sept 2016 to April 2021.(II) Financial Analyst in Asset & Business Management as well as Strategic Investment Departments of Rwanda Development Board (RDB) between 2013 and 2016 (III) Senior Economist in the National Bank of Rwanda between 2011 and 2012(IV) Director of Finance of Anglican Church, Shyira Diocese between 2010 and 2011(V) Senior Auditor in the Office of the Auditor General of State Finances between 2007 and 2010,Deogratias has teaching and presentation experience: He taught Accounting professional courses for ACCA and CPA (R). He has also taught Finance and Economics in many Universities, including Kigali Independent University (ULK), Adventist University of Central Africa, Kigali Institute of Management, University of Lay Adventists of Kigali. He has also supervised many academic dissertations in Business and Finance related topics.He also served on the board of Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC Ltd) between 2014 and 2021
