Project Problem:The web applications that underpin the client’s core business operations were based on antiquated, monolithic designs and outdated Java standards. These issues prevented the core applications from scaling to meet rising consumer demand. As a result the core business applications experienced multiple public failures during peak seasons resulting in lost revenue and customer confidence.Project Solution:The solution was a massive transformation of four core business systems from an antiquated, monolithic implementation to a modern, highly-scalable microservices-based architecture. The applications were decomposed into hundreds of microservices and deployed on the Red Hat OpenShift platform to enable high-scalability with Kubernetes.My Achievements:• Dustin successfully led this program to completion, modernizing the four core business systems in only 1.5 years. • Dustin’s team was praised by department stakeholders and executive leadership alike for the performance of the team, but also the positive force of its collective attitude. The team excelled and succeeded because Dustin built an environment where individuals could learn, grow and stretch themselves outside of their comfort zone without fear of failure. As a result, the team was happy, fulfilled and brimmed with innovative ideas to do more with less.

He was ultimately responsible for the complete delivery of this project. Project Problem:The data and statistical analysis department for the client organization was relying on a custom-developed, NATURAL mainframe-based tax analysis system from decades ago. As you can imagine, the mainframe technology was expensive to maintain, enhance and operate. Additionally, the core technology had reached its functional limitation. New business requirements were unable to be implemented due to limitations in the aged mainframe technology.Project Solution:The solution was to custom develop a new tax analysis system for the data and statistical analysis department using modern web development technologies (Microsoft .NET framework). A complete data conversion process was developed to migrate all 20+ years of tax data as well as all previously completed analysis work. The project was scheduled for 15 months and was completed on-time, on-budget and with additional scope delivered.My Achievements:• As the project manager, Dustin was able to deliver a highly successful project. Many of the project stakeholders remarked that it was the most successfully managed and executed project they had ever experienced. Dustin is able to provide references to corroborate these claims.• Additionally, the project was recognized as a finalist in the 2019 Best of Texas Digital Government awards for Demonstrated Excellence in Project Management.• Aligned the project from day one as a truly “technology-enabled” project environment. At Dustin’s direction, the team used application lifecycle management (ALM) tools like Microsoft Team Foundation Server to automate our work allowing our team to accomplish more with less.

Technical Environment: Informatica PowerCenter 9.6, Informatica Data Quality 9, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Salesforce.com, Jira, ConfluenceMy Role (client confidential): Dustin served as the Data Conversion Team Leader for a massive data cleansing and conversion initiative. He provided high-level technical direction and team management for the project. For this engagement, the team used Informatica Data Quality to greatly improve the data quality of legacy data sources. The cleansed data was then converted into a new, unified data model and loaded into a new Salesforce.com application. He led the requirements and design sessions with the technical and business users. He was directly responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of the solution delivered to the client.Project Problem:The core business application serving the licensing department of the organization had grown organically, without a roadmap or plan, for nearly a decade. As a result, the application suffered from significant reliability problems. The business had lost nearly all faith in their application due to the bugs.Project Solution:The solution was to re-develop the entire core business application for the licensing department on the Salesforce.com platform. Additionally, a complete data cleanup and data conversion was implemented to migrate all of the data into the Salesforce.com application.My Achievements:• Dustin developed the complete solution architecture to migrate the data from multiple aging legacy applications to a new, unified replacement in Salesforce.com• This complete solution utilized Master Data Management and Data Migration techniques on top of Informatica Data Quality 9, Informatica PowerCenter and MS SQL to form master records from the legacy data which were then migrated to Salesforce.com.

Technical Environment: IBM Cognos BI 10, Informatica PowerCenter 9.6, IBM DB2 10 My Role (client confidential): Dustin served as the Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect and Team Leader for the BI Workstream at across the entire SDLC. Formally, Dustin was the lead developer of this solution. During that time, Dustin developed Cognos reports and dashboards as well as ETL using Informatica PowerCenter. He provided high-level technical direction for both the Reporting and ETL teams. He was directly involved in new Report and ETL development. He led requirements and design sessions with technical and business users. He was directly responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of the solution delivered to the client. Project Problem:The core business operations for the client team utilized a custom-developed, NATURAL mainframe-based transactional system from decades ago. As you can imagine, the mainframe technology was expensive to maintain, enhance and operate. Additionally, the core technology had reached its functional limitation. New business requirements were unable to be implemented due to limitations in the aged mainframe technology.Project Solution:The solution was to custom develop a modern, Java-based web application to replace the aging mainframe system. Additionally, this transformation away from file-based data system into modern relational database technology allowed the client to utilize their first enterprise-wide data warehouse. My Achievements:• Dustin developed the complete solution architecture for the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solution using IBM Cognos 10, Informatica PowerCenter 9 and IBM DB2. This included all aspects of the solution, including ETL changed data capture strategies, database partitioning, dimensional data modeling and even multi-dimensional cube design.

Technical Environment: Oracle Database 11g, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11g, Oracle WebLogic 11g, Oracle Data Integrator 11g, Oracle ESBMy Role (client confidential): Dustin served as the Data Warehouse team leader for the Data Management Module workstream (DMM). Primarily, this role consists of developing technical solutions to fulfill data analysis requirements from the client using OBIEE 11g, Oracle Data Integrator 11g (ODI) and Oracle Database 11g. While working with the client, Dustin has also served as the lead reporting developer for multiple releases. Dustin has also served as the lead ETL developer for multiple releases. My Achievements:• Designed and developed a complete Enterprise Data Warehouse solution using Oracle Database 11g technologies that consolidated data from nearly every aspect of the client’s business including Manufacturing, Quality and Inspection, Financials, Procurement and more to provide the first entirely integrated view of the organization’s data.• To meet the client’s performance requirements, I designed and developed automated, near real-time ETL packages using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 11g to extract, cleanse and audit data from over 20 disparate source systems before loading it into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.• Provided true Business Intelligence and data analysis capabilities to a wide range of business users by developing over 200 reports, dashboards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on top of the Enterprise Data Warehouse using Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) 10g and 11g.• Performed advanced data analysis on the Enterprise Data Warehouse using SQL and OBIEE 11g to discover trends between product quality and manufacturing conditions. Presented results of data analysis to C-suite of clients. Provided recommendations and guidelines to prevent product waste, increase product quality and define measurable ROI metrics for the enterprise transformation project.
