As the Program Manager I am responsible for accomplishing the Central Washington University ROTC departments mission to train and develop future leaders by ensuring flawless operations that provide realistic training and educational opportunities to its students. In this regard I actively plan and coordinate operations of six faculty and five staff within the department to ensure seamless execution of all events and manage resources to facilitate them. I motivate and guide team members toward goal completion and reduce internal and external barriers to operations. I also serve on the college budget council for the program and procure and manage funding, logistics, and administrative resources to provide avenues towards successful operations.

I teach and mentor our college juniors by instilling leadership soft skills in conjunction with military technical tasks through individual mentorship and personal development. My program seeks to develop student’s mental, physical, and emotional traits to create adaptive leaders who can actively analyze complex situations and respond in unique and effective ways to achieve the desired outcomes. I strive to create leaders of character and build a team of proactive and decisive individuals willing to engage in difficult situations while embodying principles of servant leadership. The course structure is defined by the US Army to nationally standardize the topics discussed, but the instructor has the freedom to create and alter examples and content within these topics to create diversity and to allow students to observe multiple points of view while learning.

Daegu, South Korea

In order to complete my required time in Korea, I accepted a four month position as a financial resource manager for a military logistics and sustainment organization near Deagu consisting of over 1,000 U.S. soldiers, 80 Korean soldiers, and 80 Korean civilians. In this position I was responsible for resource acquisition and allocations, travel and transportation accounts, government contracts and purchases, and advised senior leaders throughout the government funding process. My total management budget was $3.4 million across three primary accounts. I led and oversaw a team of seven subordinate employees and ensured they maintained accurate oversight and followed applicable regulatory guidance.

Daegu, Korea

I had the privilege of accepting a one year assignment as an Operations Manager in command of a military bank in Daegu, South Korea where I was responsible for the daily operations of an Army Finance company tasked with providing payroll, financial operations support, contract payments, and disbursing to soldiers, Department of Defense civilians, and Korean employees across the southern half of South Korea. I was directly responsible for the welfare, training, morale, and performance of 33 soldiers and two Korean employees assigned to my company. As the figurehead for my higher leadership in the southern portion of the nation, I regularly met and negotiated with local Korean banking institutions and provided contracting support to multiple Korean contracting firms. I worked autonomously from my parent organization and maintained exemplary operations throughout my time while continuously ensuring my teams of subordinates developed and honed their technical skills and customer-focused operations.

I was the Senior Budget Analyst for a Communication and Network DoD program. I was chosen to accurately manage, program, and account for the U.S. portion of a $1B international communications program between the DoD and South Korean Ministry of Defense. My duties included invoice and funding reviews to ensure acquisition compliance with Congressional, Department of Defense, and Department of the Army laws and regulations, cost estimation for communication equipment acquisitions and relocation, advisory communication with senior executives on the program's budgetary status, and direct cost negotiations with Korean Ministry of Defense counterparts.

After being promoted to Captain in the Army, I took this opportunity to attend the Army's Financial Management Career Course, learning higher level federal financial management skills as well as higher organizational leadership principles and skills.

Clarksville, Tennessee Area

I was the Operations Officer for a military sustainment and logistics company with over 5,000 soldiers and employees. My primary duties included the management and organization of teams planning and conducting military training events and ensuring all property and equipment assigned to the organization, totaling $23 million was accurately accounted for and maintained by subordinate teams. I ensured all administrative and training requirements were completed by the 325 employees that directly worked for my supervisor, many of whom outranked me.

Kabul, Afghanistan

I was a military bank manager during a one year deployment to Afghanistan where I led a team of 12 soldiers in the daily operations of a military bank charged with supporting soldiers and governmental organizations operating in central Afghanistan. I oversaw and was financially responsible for the proper payment of national construction and infrastructure development contracts totaling over $25 million, soldier payroll transactions totaling over $15.5 million, and physical currency transactions totaling over $10 million. I led and developed my team with five subordinate supervisors and completed my tour with 100% accountability of funding and fully auditable records displaying exceptional performance of my subordinates as well as responsible stewardship of taxpayer funds.
