I worked nine years in Corporate America. I was frustrated with bureaucracy. It was annoying how inefficient things were run. If only I could snap my fingers and make things more efficiently. Bureaucracy prevented this from happening. I knew that my time in corporate was limited. I knew that I wasn't going to end up working 30 years in Corporate America. Instead, I wanted to actually solve problems that were impactful. I wanted to help make people's lives better. I didn't want to play a minor role in a major corporation.Starting my own company was the best way I could fulfill my dreams. It was the best way to put my talents and interest into something that could help others. When I started my first company in 2007, I was pleasantly surprised. I had many new potential clients who were receptive of the new solutions my team and I were building.It was fun to do (and continues to be so much fun!)I looked at comparative examples of how larger companies solved problems. They were doing things in a boring and corporate-y way. Instead, I looked at solving problems in a new and unique way. I'm looking at problems through a First Principles framework. As a result, our family of companies have local government clients in more than 40 states. We're building and supporting software that is used by millions and millions of people. We're continually building more new and exciting software to improve the lives of our end users.
