Dustin Rerko graduated from Colorado State University in 2020 with a bachelors of science in electrical engineering. During his time at Colorado State University Dustin has gained a firm background and interests in mathematics, power systems, and control systems. Through his course work Dustin has developed skills in Matlab, Simulink, Cadence, Java Script, and Python.Dustin has worked on several electrical engineering projects while working towards completing his degree. In his senior year Dustin lead a team of electrical engineers to design a hardware in loop system for Woodward Inc. Dustin's role in this project was as electric plant modeling lead and as technical lead. As the electric plant modeling lead it was Dustin's job to model a conceptual plant given to the team by Woodward in Typhoon HIL's modeling environment. As the technical lead it was Dustin's job to have a strong understanding of Woodward's requirements for the system so that he could answers his teams questions quickly and make final decisions about the HIL system design for the team. From this project Dustin has developed skills in communication, requirement building, and design testing.Dustin Interned with Spirae LLC. during the summer going into his senior year. During the first half of the internship Dustin helped develop and conduct tests for Spirae's software and control strategies. During this half of this internship Dustin learned about requirements, requirement traceability, and test design. During the second half of the internship Dustin worked on identifying and fixing hardware issues, creating control strategies, and designing hardware. From the second half of the internship Dustin learned about Modbus TCP, oneline diagrams, hardware design, and controller design.Out side of school and work Dustin can be found enjoying a few of his hobbies. In the mountains Dustin enjoys hiking, skiing, and rock climbing. At home Dustin enjoys drawing, carpentry, and spending time with friends.
