I guided and worked with the management team to create an ISO 17025 compliant QMS and pass the initial assessment to achieve accredited status. I was able to help by: writing their Quality Manual, SOP's, design training procedures for students and staff, calculate uncertainties for equipment and testing methods, design documentation and records management system for data and test samples, and provide general ISO consulting to ease the transition of utilizing the newly adopted quality procedures we put in place.The project was a great success as Montana Tech became an ISO 17025 accredited materials testing lab in May 2018.

Research of an Epoxidation reaction proposed by a research team in Athens Greece using Hydrogen Peroxide as the oxidant. The researches proposed a reaction mechanism but didn't do a kinetic study to support there hypothesis. I monitored the kinetics of the same reaction under the same conditions to investigate the legitimacy of the mechanism. The poster below summarizes my study.

The research goal was to confirm a 1-7 Hydride shift in a cycloaromatization reaction. My job functions were to synthesize the model substrate for the reaction. This was a two step synthesis: Sonagashira Coupling followed by a Wittig reaction. For each step of the synthesis I purified and characterized the reaction products and determined if we could proceed to the next reaction. At the end of my last semester I presented my findings at the Student Undergraduate Research Festival at Montana State University to a mixed audience consisting of students, professors, and research scientists from NASA.
