Senior Manager, First Hill Case Management at Swedish Medical Center

Registered Nurse responsible for the daily management of all Case Management activities and staff, both RN & MSW Case Managers, which includes daily care coordination, case management & discharge planning, regulatory/legal compliance, continuation of organizational throughput efforts, and ongoing engagement in the management of our complex long stay patient population. Engaged liaison between patients and families, department staff, physicians and the healthcare team, community agencies, managed care representatives, skilled nursing facilities and various community agencies.Responsible for establishing, implementing and monitoring best practice and established clinical standards to assure the quality of patient care and the financial integrity of the organization.

As a coordinator for the Inpatient Case Management Department at Swedish Medical Center, my role is to provide leadership support and resources for our case management team (RN's & MSW's) across all four Swedish Campuses (First Hill, Cherry Hill, Ballard and Issaquah). Communication and continued efforts to support our community partners & liaisons , not only in Seattle but throughout Washington State and beyond. Active engagement with our new staff members, from their first interview to the end of orientation (education, systems training and ongoing general support). Collaboration with each discipline-specific Clinician in our shared efforts to provide exceptional patient care (our top priority) within the hospital setting. Always with an eye on the "plan for the day, plan for the stay and plan for the way" - to coordinate a safe and desirable outcome (to the best of our abilities), and ultimately, the safest possible discharge plan for our patients.

Dusty encourages her students to slow down and search within; teaches them to open up space inside their bodies and gently reminds them to always simply breathe. Her weekly vinyasa classes will challenge you physically by encouraging you to find your edge in the moment, quiet the critic in your head and believe that simply showing up is what matters - everything else is just practice.

Dusty founded Tree House Yoga in 2013 and remained the sole owner/business manager through 2015, at which time Candice Irven acquired Tree House Yoga and continues to grow and build the studio. Dusty continues to lead Tree House Yoga's Registered Yoga Teacher Training Program (RYT200) which will graduate (10) RYT-200hr participants in June of 2016.Tree House Yoga, established as downtown Indianapolis' only hot vinyasa yoga studio, was created with community in mind: We are a community in motion. Comprehensive knowledge and command of high/low fidelity manikins, task trainers, computer-based multimedia systems, monitors, LCD projectors, medical devices from every discipline, and simulation programming software.Extremely motivated and always striving for a sense of team as evidenced by management of weekly schedules, coordinating workload with fellow technicians, ongoing client meetings and organization of various events hosted throughout the Simulation Center.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit / Level 4 (2004 - 2013) Registered Nurse; ECMO ClinicianExpert level clinical skills as evidenced by consistent and compassionate management of the most critical and acute NICU patients, including those requiring ECMO support. Proficiency demonstrated in all stages of care for Level 4 NICU patients including various ventilation therapies (HFOV, HFJV, Standard Ventilation, CPAP, BiPAP, Tracheal, Extracorporeal, Vapotherm), surgical patients (bedside, pre/post op), hemodynamically unstable, ELBW, micro-prematurity and cardiac patients (pre/post CV surgery) with the potential for required ECMO initiation and ongoing therapeutic support.Strong technical skills regarding assembly of the ECMO circuitAccurate and probing critical thinker while problem solving ECMO complications and the management of fellow team members during the therapeutic use of ECMO at the bedside.Energetic and detailed educator responsible for coordinating several team members during the therapeutic use of ECMO. This requires excellent interpersonal skills and a strong command of the technical skills required to manage the initiation and ongoing support of the ECMO course within a team environment.
