I've spent most of my working life working in the creative industries. I've had the privilege of working with talented people and continue to enjoy the journey.I have worked in the Music and TV industry over the past 35 years. In that time I have been employed as a Sound Engineer, Record Producer, TV Editor, musician and writer. I have always been fortunate enough to work with and alongside creative and talented people, and I’m forever grateful for the lessons they taught me and the experience they provided.I have an Honours Degree in Media Communications, I’m also a qualified lecturer and I have been a Moderator, Course Writer and College Adviser for BTEC, the Open College Network and the Learning Skills Council. I have also been an industry contributor to the Creative Apprenticeship and advised and contributed to the government’s Creative and Cultural Skills Programme.I’m a songwriter and guitarist and have worked with a number of established artists, studios and production teams over the past 30 years in a wide variety of roles.I’m most proud of the work I’ve done with young artists. The media headline stories are those that are noticed by others, but the most important stories are those of young people who regained their confidence and self-worth through being able to express themselves through music and receive the praise and respect of their peers. Those stories are life-changing events for the individuals and their families – and it is those small victories that will change the world. I was delighted to accept endorsements and recognition of the work of my company with young artists from the Association of Independent Music and the British Phonographic Institute, however, I was both surprised and proud to be made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts for my work with young artists.I’m proud to be a Mentor on the RSA Academy “Broadening Horizons” programme.
