Founded in 1959, we have served more than 300,000 youth and families through a variety of child welfare, counseling, juvenile justice and prevention services, helping each overcome challenges such as abuse, neglect and homelessness. My Role: DIRECTOR OF PREVENTION SERVICES: Directing the coordination of prevention-based services that assist youth and families by providing skills and opportunities for them to succeed. Prevention by definition is to interrupt the process of negative behaviors. As director of prevention, my departmental sector includes, violence prevention, substance use/abuse prevention and personal responsibility. Supervision of youth comprehensive prevention programs, intensive outpatient services, DUI services and women's domestic violence treatment services.

Management Managed day-to-day operations and departmental responsibilities for the Prevention department in the suburban region for TeenREACH and the Illinois State Board of Education programs. Facilitated after-school programs and managed parent and community outreach programs including training and job readiness skills for Proviso Township residents. Duties included program planning, facilitation and activity leadership. Supervised mentoring programs that enhanced conflict resolution, positive decision making and cultural sensitivity among peers. Designed and delivered youth leadership & development programs. Supervised youth programs in four school districts for multiple program sites per district.Worked in conjunction with the Village of Bellwood, Senator K. Lightford and the Illinois Department of Employment Security on a project that was awarded the 2004 Governor's Award for initiating a community career development and jobs program. Also, supported and chaired the local teen Peer Jury as a facilitator for two years.
