- Conduct laboratory experiments using molecular biology techniques and equipment (e.g., PCR for detection of active SARS-CoV-2 infection and serological tests (ELISA) to detect the presence of anti-viral antibodies).- Participate in the design of laboratory experiments and protocols.- Process, organize, summarize, visualize data, and report experiment results to researchers using a variety of scientific word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software applications or program platforms (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, R, Tableau, Galaxy, Photoshop).- Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain advanced research and analytical laboratory test equipment (e.g., microscopes, PCR thermocycler, spectrophotometer, analytical balances, centrifuges, ultra-low temperature freezers).- Select, modify and adapt equipment or procedures to meet the needs of each scientific project.- Guide and train students in fundamental laboratory techniques; and participate in recruiting new students.- Perform laboratory maintenance and supply orders; as well as process orders, invoices and other administrative and accounting tasks (budget management).
