I studied silicon surface chemistry and the reaction of Si(100) crystals with gas-phase reagents, particularly F_2 and XeF_2. • I repaired and used an ultra-high vacuum molecular beam scattering apparatus with a differentially pumped rotatable, time-of-flight sensitive quadrupole mass spectrometer.• I developed a classical dynamics model of the system I was studying and wrote a program to simulate it in Python. • I gained experience in rebuilding mechanical vacuum pumps, repairing power and sensor electronics, and ultra-high vacuum construction and repairs. • I presented posters at the 2011 and 2013 Gordon Research Conferences on Dynamics at Surfaces in Newport, RI.
