In this role I facilitate the selection and teaching of new and appropriate music conducive to establishing an atmosphere of praise and worship, thereby ushering in the spirit and establishing the platform upon which the shepherd will deliver the bread of life each given Sunday. This role is more than merely selecting songs that are trending in the tops charts, but is reflective upon the entirety of the whole body of Christian life experience, past, present and future, while seeking to be effective in ministering into the hearts and lives of every worshipper that God directs to be placed in your path of ministry of but for an hour. The ministry of song is more than mere words put to a nice melody, the ministry of song encompasses an experience that tells a story of an individual's circumstance with an unbridled brokenness and unadulterated transparency that relays to the listener their struggles, weaknesses and temptations, while also encouraging the listener to fight and cry through the pain, grief, despondency and disappointment . . .and then revealing the miracle of faith in action by being a survivor and a triumphant victorious conqueror over every snare and trick of the enemy. Teaching each choir member that no one member is indispensable, yet the effectiveness of the choir ministry begins with the choir knowing and understanding the "word" (Bible) and applying the message to every song selected to some aspect of their personal lives. Many fail to understand that the choir and the song selections chosen by the minister of music and the timing and placement of songs in service set the tone of worship. So it is critical to understand the flow of the spirit when leading worship in order to provide worshippers the best possible encounter with God they can ever imagine, as well as lessening the burden on the man of God who will deliver the message from having to prime the audience like an empty well.
