He brings more than 25 years of experience working in the not for profit and governmental sectors to the organization. Those experiences range from administrative management, organizational and board development, ex-offender job counseling, governance, fundraising, human resources, marketing, volunteer management, grants management, budgeting and strategic planning.Prior to joining Cherish Our Children, Dwayne was the Co-Executive/Development Director for Justice for All Immigrants, a non-profit immigration law firm assisting clients seeking legal pathways for becoming American citizens. Previous to his works at Justice for All Immigrants, he worked for Harris County Child Protective Services (CPS). While there he wrote for, secured and managed grants funding, exceeding $2 million, for the organization’s child and adult abuse prevention programs.During his tenure with the Greater East End Management District, and in partnership with Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority, Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC) the City of Houston, as well as a host of collaborating community partners, he successfully raised (grants writing) several million dollars targeting Houston’s East End and the community’s revitalization efforts to further enhance safety, walking and bike trails, and its pedestrian oriented transit infrastructure needs.In addition, Dwayne has worked in development and executive director capacities for the Texas Defender Service, the United Way of Odessa, TX and the Boys and Girls Club of Victoria, TX. During his tenure, several million dollars was collectively raised to support the causes of each respective organization.He has bachelor's degree in communications from Prairie View A&M University, and a master's degree in clinical Sociology from Texas Southern University. Dwayne is passionate about helping youth, especially those who are “at-risk”, realize and achieve their full potential.In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching AAU basketball (mentoring), fishing, writing and staying fit.
